Winterfest 2025

In less than a month, Lionel Reynaud, our sensei will have the privilege of presenting his work at Winterfest, the renowned annual event organized by George Mattson in Orlando, USA.

For over 40 years, Winterfest has been a cornerstone of Uechi-Ryu Karate, welcoming legendary Grandmasters such as Kanmei Uechi, Ryuko Tomoyose, and Shinyu Gushi. It is a great honor to contribute to this tradition and share insights on the Old Way of training.

The Body’s Physiological Response to Uechi-Ryu Karate Demands

“Karate is not just a physical discipline but a holistic practice that deeply engages both mind and body.”

In his presentation, Lionel will explore how the body physiologically responds to the rigorous demands of Uechi-Ryu training, emphasizing the principles of the Old Way. Practitioners will delve into the connection between traditional training methods, biomechanics, and natural adaptation, uncovering how these elements contribute to power, resilience, and fluidity in movement and to the rigorous demands of Uechi-Ryu training and the benefits of the OldWay.
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how techniques align with natural biomechanics and how the body’s systems adapt to achieve power, resilience, and fluidity.

If you’re attending Winterfest, Lionel would be delighted to meet you there, along with some of his students. Let’s train, exchange ideas, and continue preserving the essence of authentic Uechi-Ryu Karate.
