Community of Practice
Our Institute is part of the Uechi-Ryu Oryukai Community of Practice.
Oryukai (欧琉会) is a Japanese word composed of three kanji characters:
- 欧 (pronounced “O”) is the first kanji of the word Europe.
- 琉 (pronounced “RYU”) is the first kanji of Ryukyu, the ancient kingdom of Okinawa.
- 会 (pronounced “KAI”) means group or association.
Thus, the term Oryukai defines the group that connects Okinawa and Europe.

Philosophy
Uechi-Ryu Oryukai is a non profit organization willing to populate Uechi-Ryu Karate and teach the Traditional Uechi-Ryu Karate.
To spread our Karate we have 2 online programs :
- Oryukan (for French speaking students)
- Uechi-Ryu Kenkyujo (for English speaking students)
Through our community of practice these programs are connected to the IUKF, the European Uechi-Ryu Karate Group and the Uechi-Ryu Karate Kyokai.

Our community of practice is open to all karatekas whatever the organization and we do not ask them to change of organization by joining us !
