Our Institute in 12 Countries

A New International Season for Our Uechi-Ryu Institute

It’s been a few months since the 2025–2026 season began, and we’re thrilled to announce that our Institute is now active in twelve countries around the world!

“Bringing together students from different nationalities, having them train side by side, and watching them progress is a true joy and a wonderful source of motivation.”
Sensei Lionel Reynaud

This international diversity gives our training a unique richness — though it also brings a few challenges:

“Juggling time zones isn’t always easy, especially this week with daylight saving time not changing everywhere at the same time!” explains Sensei Lionel. “I first experienced that during the pandemic, when I was taking online classes in the U.S. and Japan. I remember once mixing up the time zones — and ending up in a Japanese swordsmanship class at 2 a.m.!”

Even today, several of our students live in the United States, which also means managing quite a time spread — there’s a three-hour difference between the East and West Coasts.

But this is exactly what our association was founded for: to bring together practitioners from around the world, to share experiences, and to carry on the spirit of Uechi-Ryu Karate together.
